Bing vs Google?

February 21st, 2010

There is no such a thing.

Bing makes searches based on relevance and backlincks, they do not have the crawling capability of Google.

This was demonstrated with several questions and answers posted to them when after a 6 month periods one of our sites www.dentibuslab.com was not even listed despite several efforts which I will describe as follows:

After 5 days of creation www.dentibuslab.com got crawled and presented to the world on Google as:

Dentibus Dental Laboratories, serving Northern Virginia, DC Metro Area and the Shenandoah Valley spanning from Roanoke to Winchester and Charlottesville to
www.dentibuslab.com/ – Cached

the same day we posted and verified with Bing to make sure they had the website.

Web address Authentication code Last Authentication Method
www.dentibuslab.com EAF737B9B8F74BDD0D70419C8DB98B67 XML File

And a xml sitemap was posted also..

6 month laters here we are, nothing but not even one single mention about dentibuslab.

In regards to backlinks? we have backlinks from yellowpages, and several other pages on the Internet, still nothing.

The lame excuse from Bing forum was that Google has more resources to crawl sites than Bing and that answered my question.

WHO IS BETTER?

definitely GOOGLE!

Thanks Google for teaching everybody else how to do a good job!

Working from home!

February 8th, 2010

Losing Productivity?

If your employees are digging snow instead of working from home, it’s
costing money. With Hosted PBX service, your office extensions can be mirrored
at home offices and this requires only a high speed or broadband internet connection.

Work from home.

On snow days, or any bad commuting day, wouldn’t it be smart to work
at home? Telarius’s modern Voice over IP technology allows you to mirror
your business extension in multiple locations while retaining 100% of the business
features you need to be productive, such as call transfer, call park, voicemail,
hunt groups and perfect voice quality. During February, Procomm Consulting,
Inc. will install mirrored extensions for free.

Here is an example of your monthly cost for five users, each with a phone at
the office and one at home:

New Aastra Telephone handsets are purchase items, starting at $110 each.

  • 10 phones (5 at home)
  • Auto Attendant and IVR

Nokia E51 and Asterisk

January 3rd, 2010

image

I find this one of the best phones with a SIP dialer included, it works great with Asterisk doing registration and handling g729 as well as g711.

Is a dual mode phone so you can enjoy your 3GSM and if you have wifi available while traveling you can be connected to your office PBX at the same time.

Believe me, your packet will feel the difference and the voice quality of course depends on the quality of the internet connection available.

Sysmaster Login Problem 2010

January 2nd, 2010

January 1st 2010 all Sysmaster’s not upgraded to latest firmware experienced the problem that you could not access to the web console.

Phased software versions where developers hard-code some session expiration date to some far future date. At lease while the developers work for the specific company.

The cookie expiration date has been set to Jan 01 2010 and it was set on 2003

This is not a big issue, traffic is not affected but access is not granted.

You can fix the access problem by changing the date on your computer to 2009 and you will be able to login without problems, however this is a fix not the solution to the problem.

We suggest you give us a call for upgrade on your system

We will replace de sp_login and sp_login_register upgrading 2010 to 2100

The price to solve this problem is $500 per Voicemaster.

Contact us at sales@procomm100.com

or call us at 703-636-7111

How to know if this is the problem?

Note about the problem:

Started like this:

[Fri Jan  1 07:00:03 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: /opt/web/crm/cgi-bin/if.cgi
[Sat Jan  2 07:00:02 2010] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] Premature end of script headers: /opt/web/crm/cgi-bin/if.cgi

You can find this at: /home/manager/debug/apache/

command:

cat httpsd_error_log

this will show you all the file so scroll to the end and find the errrors for the Jan 1

Office Connect

March 19th, 2009

Typical Multi-Branch Office Scenario

interconnect-02

What was the requirement?

  • Autonomy to connect extensions and to dial out in each geographical location
  • Speed of connection to retrieve Voicemails and to modify conditions based on time on the auto attendant
  • The ability to connect to the local PSTN to receive local numbers and assign them to local, NON-OFFICE located operators which may be home user
  • Low Cost on International termination
  • FREE Interoffice calls
  • FREE calls to Inter-office PSTN locations (example extension 3401 in Dubai calling phone number in PSTN London)
  • Flexible Dial Plans
  • Home-based Customer Support Team

What we did?

Network Topology

  • Deployed a PBX in each one of the locations
  • Connected to the local area network and optimized the LAN, there was no traffic shaping nor QOS management so we changed routers programmed access-lists for security, secured the entire network and made sure that the switch was running with the proper parameters for Duplex and Speed connectivity.
  • Measured the ISP, in one of the locations (DUBAI) The DSL was faulty and was causing packet loss which had to be replaced, also measured hops point-to-point between each site and the termination providers
  • Once Each PBX was up and running on configuration we started the services

Services Installed

Each PBX Telarius comes with all features available for a regular PBX so configuration was the only thing required:

Generic Conception

Creation of the Dial Plan: We selected a 4 digits Dial plan to route calls based on the first number and thinking that at each location we will have a max of XX (99) phones and a max of (99) locations so for this we used the XXXX dial plan definition:

New York    14XX

London        24XX

Dubai        34XX

Which is the best Mid-size softswitch in the Market

February 20th, 2009

Many Times I have been asked which is the champion of the middle-weight division in softswitches and my answer did not let the person wait too long , it is MERA , Mera Networks offers one of the best solutions in the market that covers the next points:
- Reliable? (Extremely Reliable)
- Flexible? (You can hook it to any platform)
- Billing? (Is AAA radius based and friendly with any Billing manufacturer)
- Protocol Conversion? (Very interaction between H323 and SIP)
- Transcoding? (The list of codecs is larger than what you will ever get to use)
-Price? (Very affordable)

I like the design of the system, very simple, Linux Based, CLI management, Intuitive WEB GUI.
Without training on the Mera Pro it took me 20 minutes to start LAR Routing and AAA billing forwarding.

Besides that, few companies have an European quality management system certification like this one.
